Hey Mamas! I’ve been right where you are…twice! Add in being a newborn photographer for 11+ years, I know how busy life gets and all that you are juggling while preparing to welcome a new baby. And all that baby prep you are doing as expecting parents is super important, but you don’t want to forget about booking your newborn photo session! I get asked all the time…When should I book a newborn session?
Here are 6 reasons you should book your newborn photo session early
1 | Check it off your to-do list! The list of things you must/want to accomplish as you prepare for baby is always growing…between doctors appointment, baby showers, birthing classes, and of course researching and finding the best newborn photographer that will capture your newborn just how you envision. And that is on top of regular life duties! So the sooner it is off that list, the more you can relax.
2 | Availability. I love what I do and I put a lot of time and consideration into my clients and their sessions. I also have my own family that I want to be present for. Therefore I take a limited amount of sessions each month so I can give you and my own children my ultimate best.
3 | I am a strong believer that you can have beautiful images of your baby at any age. And while I am not super strict on timing of your newborn session, I do recommend completing your session when baby is 7-16 days old. Babies are typically the sleepiest during those first couple weeks of life. This allows us to get those sweet curly images that we all love.
4 |Babies changes so quickly those first few weeks and I know how important it is to remember those tiny features, the tiny whips of hair, the fuzzy shoulders…all the amazing details that are present those first weeks of life.
5 | Let’s not forget about life just before baby! Those feelings of anticipation and excitement as you count down to baby’s arrival. Many clients want to add on a maternity session so they can remember mom’s cute baby bump, the excitement of siblings as they feel baby move, and the love parents share for each other. Maternity portraits are typically taken between 30-36 weeks of pregnancy. Read more about when to schedule maternity sessions.
6 | Want hair and make-up done for your session? I work with a couple amazing hair and make-up artists who will come to your home or meet at my home studio to get you picture ready.
I’d love to chat about sessions and see if we are good fit! Many clients reserve sessions during their second trimester to ensure availability.
